The opinion of the Pearl

The pearl is definitely a book that is a message for humanity. The book tells people that greed is the thing that can change a person's life in seconds, well besides death. Kino was a peaceful, kind man who loved his life as a discriminated, poor, Native Mexican. But once Kino finds this pearl, the inhumanly beautiful treasure, this is a phenomenon  in his people's history. But this pearl that can change the most lucid people by making them making fantasies. Kino's dreams turn into nightmares as the pearl starts bringing treacherous events. In the end Kino's rage, greed, and dreams make him harm his wife, kill four people, and kill his only son. I personally didn't like this book because it reminded me of the evil parts of human nature. Why focus on the evil when we can focus on good of human characteristics and why kill off an innocent baby because his father  couldn't keep his hands off his 'great pearl'. I liked the writing style though it made you feel like you were in the desperation and I almost cried when Coyotito died.
